Public Art Project Call to Artists: Request for Qualifications (RFQ)

R. G. “Bun” Veysey Active Living Centre

The District of Carleton North NB invites professional artists and artist teams to submit their qualifications for consideration to design, create and install a permanent, site-specific artwork to celebrate the new Recreation Centre in the District of Carleton North.  The R. G. “Bun” Veysey Active Living Centre was completed and started operation late in 2023; the official grand opening ceremony was June 8, 2024.

We’re looking for artwork that creates an atmosphere of community, inclusivity, and wellness for the community of the District of Carleton North, and the visitors and staff of the R.G. “Bun” Veysey Active Living Centre.

Dimensions of Proposed Areas

Lawn is an L-Shape area with dimensions in meters as shown:

Walking track wall is 38m long with a height of 2.28m from the floor to the horizontal structural steel members running between the columns.  Columns are just under 5m apart (the section with the x is a bit wider)

Entrance hallway area is 5.13m wide with a height of 2.38m on the left-hand side, descending to a height of 1.97m on the right-hand side

Stairwell wall is 2.28m wide with a height of 2.00m

Stage 1 deadline:           midnight ADT 22 September 2024

Stage 2 deadline:           midnight AST 19 January 2025

Installation date:            to be determined in 2025

Eligibility: The call to artists is open to professional artists who identify as an individual artist or a group of artists.  Members of the Public Art Committee, Selection Committee and their immediate families are ineligible to apply.
