R.G. “Bun” Veysey: A Legacy of Athletic Excellence and Community Building
R.G. “Bun” Veysey made an indelible mark on Florenceville and the Northern Carleton region through his tireless dedication to sports and community development. In 1968, he became the first Director of recreation, laying the foundation for a vibrant recreational culture.
Bun’s impact was profound and wide-ranging. He founded leagues, guided teams to provincial championships, and nurtured a passion for recreation among people of all ages. His dedication to promoting active living persisted throughout his career and into retirement.
A distinguished athlete himself, Bun’s prowess transcended multiple sports, earning him a place in the Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame, and the Carleton North Sports Wall of Recognition.
As an athlete, coach, and builder, Bun Veysey’s legacy remains an inspiration to all who value sportsmanship, community, and lifelong engagement in active living.
