Public Park & Playground Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas!
Earlier this summer, the District of Carleton North invited residents to share their thoughts on the proposed Community Park & Playground planned for the municipal lot adjacent to the R. G. “Bun” Veysey Active Living Centre.
The survey was open from June 24 – July 31, 2026, and we received 246 responses from residents and community members.
Now the results are in – and there are some clear themes in what our community would like to see in this new space.
Now, the results are in!
The survey results give us a great snapshot of what our community would like to see in the new park and playground.
Respondents indicated that the park would be used primarily by children under 12, with many families expecting to visit weekly or more often. A large majority also felt that having a playground would encourage them to stay longer when visiting the Veysey Centre.
The feedback also highlighted strong interest in play equipment, comfortable seating and landscaping, accessibility, safety, and a natural and rustic design. Additional comments brought forward ideas such as accessible pathways, water refill stations, washroom access, open green space and other family-friendly amenities.
There was also interest in supporting future community fundraising efforts, particularly through community events and social media.
What happens Next?
The survey feedback will help guide the concept design and future budget planning for the project as it moves into the concept design phase.
We’ll continue to share updates as the project progresses.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate and help shape this future community space!
