District of Carleton North Municipal Plan and Zoning By-Law

May 23rd, 2025

The District of Carleton North , in partnership with the Western NB Service Commission, is in the process of drafting a new Municipal Plan and Zoning By-Law for District of Carleton North.

Currently, land use within the District is governed by five separate regulatory documents:

· Village of Bath Rural Plan

· Village of Centreville Rural Plan

· Town of Florenceville-Bristol Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law

· South-Central Carleton County Rural Plan

In Addition, large areas within the District are not currently subject to any zoning regulations.

As a result of Local Governance Reform, these existing by-laws no longer align with the new boundaries of the District of Carleton North. To address this, a new, unified Municipal Plan and Zoning By-law are being developed to replace the current documents and ensure consistent and modern land use regulation across the entire District.

The Municipal Plan is a long-term strategic document that sets out the District’s vision for future growth, development, and land use. It provides the policy framework to guide decision-making on land use, housing, infrastructure, environment, and economic development. Please see the following documents below:

· Draft District of Carleton North Municipal Plan

· Draft District of Carleton North Future Land Use Map

The Zoning By-law implements the Municipal Plan by dividing the District into land use zones and establishing specific rules and standards for development. It outlines permitted uses, building regulations, and approval processes to ensure orderly and sustainable development. Please see the following documents below:
